Bedroom Furniture Tv Unit
Fox
Of course we all watch TV for the plotlines, but let's face it: The places where the drama happens often become as much characters in the show as the people on it. From Blanche Devereaux's iconic banana leaf bedroom to iCarly's palatial play palace, there's no shortage of inspiration, nostalgia, and kitsch in the bedrooms from our favorite TV shows. With that in mind, House Beautiful has compiled a list of the best TV bedrooms of all time. Some earn their place for sheer beauty, others for uniqueness, and still others for managing to manifest so completely the feelings of a certain era that they serve almost as time capsules. Without further ado, here's our ranking.

17. Rory Gilmore's Room, Gilmore Girls
Rory's bedroom in Stars Hollow is the picture of an overachieving teenager—just look at the bulletin board plastered with Harvard paraphernalia. Of course, later seasons will see her personal space bedecked in the blue hue of Yale. But it's the picturesque behind-the-headboard, lace-curtained windows that really win us over in this space.

16. Dawson Leary's Room, Dawson's Creek
Dawson's room—shockingly to some more rule-restricted young watchers—was the hangout spot of Capeside on this beloved teen drama. Watching Joey Potter climb in through the window to Dawson's movie poster-clad room always meant there was good TV ahead.

15. Kelly Taylor's Room, 90210
A posh teen from Beverly Hills's famous zip code and the center of this beloved show's cast, Kelly Taylor had a room to match her rich lifestyle: fur accessories, mod lamps, and, are those supposed to be Warhols?

14. Sabrina's Room, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch
Sabrina's room was the perfect mystical-meets-'90s space, with its wallpaper border, decorative draping, tufted bench, and sun and moon decor. Magic!

13. DJ and Stephanie Tanner's Room, Full House
Anyone who didn't have a sister undoubtedly pined for this colorful sibling setup—despite the fights. And anyone who did wished they could live in such primary-colored, orange-wood 90s glory.

12. Michelle Tanner's Room, Full House
The absolute ultimate '90s kids room, the littlest Tanner's room checks all the boxes: wallpaper border, pastel colors, wall-to-wall carpet, decorative headboard curtain, quilted bedspread. And that pencil bed!

11. Drake and Josh's Room, Drake and Josh
Admit it: If you were a 90s kid, you wanted a lofted bed when this show came out. The backdrop to these stepbrothers antics is delightfully whimsical but cool, with gadgets and toys stuffed in every corner.

10. Clarissa's Room, Clarissa Explains it All
The quilted bedspread! The wall-to-wall carpeting! The license plates as decor! The multi-color painted desk! This bedroom, the backdrop for teenage Clarissa's monologues, was the best and worst of '90s style, all converged in one sassy teenager's personal space.

9. Ricky Stratton's Room, Silver Spoons
A racecar bed! An indoor train track! Ricky Stratton had the bedroom of every little kid's dreams on this '80s sitcom.

8. Ryan Atwood's Pool House, The O.C.
When Ryan Atwood moves from the wrong side of the tracks into the Cohens' home in posh Newport Beach, he's set up in the pool house, where, as to be expected with a teen TV series, much drama ensues. Speaking as one of them, I know all teenage fans dreamed of occupying their own pool house the moment The O.C. hit the air.

7. Carly Shay's Room, iCarly
As someone too old to watch this sow and also someone who lives in a New York City apartment, I'm sorry, what?! This is a teenager's bedroom? Is part of the plot that Carly is the daughter of Bill Gates? This bedroom is ridiculous—in style and price. The elevated bed! The ice cream sandwich bench! The miniature pool (?) The EAMES LOUNGE! Might start watching iCarly just to get a closer look at this bedroom.

6. Blair Waldorf's Room, Gossip Girl
What teenager has a gilded mirror, plaster accent wall, and taffeta curtains in her room? Blair Waldorf, that's who. The Queen B's uptown townhouse was a real estate dream in its entirety, but set designers hit the nail on the head with Blair's bedroom, which was the perfect mashup of traditional rich (hardwood headboard) and spirited teenager (powder blue walls).

5. Don and Betty Draper's Room, Mad Men
Though the bulk of Mad Men's drama centered around the workplace, I would argue that some of its most poignant plot lines are the more personal ones, like the gradual breakdown of Betty and Don's marriage, which takes place against the backdrop of their oh-so 1960s bedroom. Later, when Don moves in with Megan, the two opt for a much more midcentury modern style, a strikingly symbolic representation of the main character's life change.

4. Carrie Bradshaw's Junior One Bedroom, Sex and the City
Ah, Carrie Bradshaw's apartment: The spacious New York abode that made writers the world over wonder just how much Ms. Bradshaw must make from her weekly column to afford a space like that—not to mention all those Manolos. Nonetheless, the bedroom was the place of much soul-searching from the groundbreaking TV heroine, so it must make our list.

3. Alexis Carrington's Room, Dynasty
It's hardly a surprise that a member of the wealthy Carrington family would have a swanky bedroom—and Alexis Carrington's was the picture of 1980s swank: curtained walls, rounded-edged headboard, shiny pink matelasse bedding. It's like a cotton-candy '80s dream.

2. Lucy and Desi's Room, I Love Lucy
An ode to an era when two twin beds was de rigeur for a married couple, this bedroom, with its patterned floral wallpaper and low, midcentury shelves, is a veritable time capsule of 1950s decor.

1. Blanche Devereaux's Room, Golden Girls
The No. 1 spot on our lists and in our hearts has to go to Blanche Devereaux's delightfully maximalist room in Golden Girls. How could we resist that no-holds-barred application of the iconic Martinique pattern? This bedroom became so beloved during filming that the producers had to physically hide Blanche's bedding between seasons, for fear is would get pilfered—yes, really.
